Aga Town Hometown Museum
museum of the history and culture of Aga Town in the old school building of Kamikawa Junior High School.
The exhibition room of the primitive ages (the Old Stone Age, Jomon period and Yayoi period) is open at the moment.
Paleoliths (Tangible cultural property designated by the prefecture) excavated from Uenotaira Ruins and Yoshigasawa Ruins date back about 20,000 years ago in the glacial period, materials of Kosegasawa Cave (Nationally designated historic site) gave a clue for investigating the start of the Jomon period, and cord-marked pottery are decorated with straw-ripe patterns, clay figures and stone bars in which people’s prayers are shaped. Many finds that throw light on the history of Aga Town are exhibited.
